Serious Crash on A227: Bus and Tractor Collide Near Meopham

Dashcam and phone footage are urgently being sought after a serious collision between a bus and a tractor on the A227 South Street near Culverstone Green. The crash happened around 3.25pm on Wednesday, 22 May, close to the junction with Chapman’s Hill.

Bus Driver and Children Hospitalised

Emergency services, including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, an air ambulance, and Kent Fire and Rescue, rushed to the scene. The bus driver and 12 children were taken to hospital. Four others received treatment at the scene.

One child remains in serious but stable condition in hospital. Three other casualties are being treated for serious injuries at local hospitals.

Suspect Arrested and Released on Bail

A 33-year-old man from East Sussex was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the crash. He has since been released on bail, pending further investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is leading the probe and appealing for witnesses. Officers want anyone with dashcam or phone footage of the crash to come forward.
