Emergency Services Seal Off Greenwich Area
Armed officers, police vans, and an air ambulance swarmed the scene near Greenwich Market and Creek Road, which remains closed between Greenwich town centre and Deptford.
Creek Road closures have forced traffic to divert via Greenwich High Road and through Deptford, with the A2 Blackheath Hill also experiencing heavy congestion.
Locals and Nursery Staff Locked Down as Police Investigate
Residents reported hearing a faint gunshot just after 2pm, leaving many too scared to leave their homes. Nursery workers at Maritime Minis quickly locked their doors to protect children after hearing about the shooting.
“We were not permitted to take the children outside. We had no idea what was going on and only heard there was a gun when the chef told us to lock the doors,” a nursery employee told MyLondon.
Police Confirm No Terror Link, Investigation Underway
Met Police reassured the public this is not a terror-related incident and there is no ongoing threat. A spokesperson said:
The London Ambulance Service and air ambulance were dispatched. The man was treated on-site before hospital transfer. His injuries are not life-threatening.”
Police urge the public to stay away from the area while they carry out a full investigation.
