Kent Police Welcomes Record-Breaking 124 New Recruits

Kent Police has smashed records with its largest-ever intake of trainee officers. On Monday 10 October 2022, 124 fresh-faced recruits joined the force’s dedicated training college, marking a huge boost in manpower.

Fast-Track Training Kicks Off

The new recruits have hit the ground running. Their first week covers essential policing skills, including the crucial art of evidence capture and how to use pocket notebooks like pros. High standards are already being set to prepare them for real-world duties.

New Faces, Big Ambitions

Among the recruits is 25-year-old Asha Phillips, who said: “I wanted to join Kent Police because I care about the people in my community and wanted a job where no two days are the same. I was a bit nervous on my first day, but everyone was welcoming. By the end of training, I’d love to become a detective.”

23-year-old Viana Ilie echoed the passion: “I wanted to join Kent Police because I really love to help people and make a difference. My goal is to work in the Serious and Organised Crime Unit.”

Boosting Kent’s Crime-Fighting Force

Kent is in its third year of the national police officer uplift programme, aiming to beef up resources to tackle crime head-on. Deputy Chief Officer Ian Drysdale said: “It fills me with great pride to welcome so many new recruits to this outstanding organisation. They will make a real difference by building relationships with local communities, preventing and detecting crime, supporting victims and keeping people safe.”
