Tragedy in Maidstone: Man Found Dead in River Medway After Dare

Emergency Services Rush to River Medway

Kent Police were called at 4.39pm on Friday 9 July 2021 after reports of a man seen in the River Medway, Maidstone. Officers arrived alongside Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent Search and Rescue, and South East Coast Ambulance teams.

Tragically, rescue teams recovered the man’s body from the water. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be sent to the coroner.

Witness Reveals Shocking Dare Before Incident

A bystander reported the man had been dared by a friend to enter the river. The man was seen stripping off, leaving his clothes on a nearby bench. The entire incident was captured on a mobile phone.

Man Fails to Surface Despite Rescue Efforts

Despite frantic attempts to save him, the man did not resurface after going into the water. Emergency services were called immediately, but sadly, his body was later recovered by search teams.
