Speed Demon Crashes After M25 Pursuit

A man in his 20s was arrested after a dramatic police chase on the M25 ended in a crash in the early hours of Monday, 9 December. At around 2:18 a.m., officers tried to stop a blue VW Golf speeding anticlockwise near Orpington, but the driver took off, sparking a high-speed pursuit onto the A21.

The chase came to a sudden halt when the Golf smashed into something, forcing the driver to be hospitalized before being taken into police custody.

Suspect Busted on Multiple Charges

Surrey Police confirmed the man now faces a string of serious allegations including:

  • Dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop for police
  • Driving while unfit through drink or drugs
  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
  • Failing to cooperate with a preliminary test
  • Failing to wear a seat belt

Roads Shut as Police Investigate

The A21 westbound was slammed shut between junction 4 of the M25 and the A224 at Badgers Mount while officers cleared the wreckage. Drivers heading towards Orpington were urged to use junctions 3 or 5 as alternatives, with traffic chaos unfolding during the early hours.

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Surrey Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can ring 101 quoting the incident details to aid the ongoing investigation.
