Manhunt launched after terrifying acid attack on mother and daughters in Lambeth
Suspect on the run after brutal assault
London is on high alert following a shocking acid attack in Lambeth on Wednesday evening. Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, 35, is wanted by police after dousing a woman and her two young daughters with acid on Lessar Avenue, SW4, at around 7:25pm.
Victims suffer serious injuries but survive
The 31-year-old mother and her children, aged eight and three, were the main victims. While none are fighting for their lives, doctors warn the woman and youngest child could face life-altering injuries. Their conditions remain under close hospital supervision.
Heroic bystanders and officers injured
Three brave women who rushed to help the family suffered minor burns and have since been discharged. A man in his 50s who also intervened declined hospital treatment for minor injuries. Five police officers hurt during the dramatic response have been treated and released.
Escape attempt foiled but suspect still at large
Ezedi tried to make a getaway by car but crashed into a stationary vehicle before fleeing on foot toward Clapham Common. Police believe he knows the victims and have urged the public to check doorbell and dashcam footage for any clues.
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron praised the courage of the rescuers and thanked local hotels for offering refuge to the victims. The area remains sealed off with support from the Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and the National Police Air Service.
