Kent Police Crack Down on Speeding: Over 3,400 Drivers Caught in Two Weeks
Kent’s roads have become a hotspot for speeding crackdowns, with police slapping Traffic Offence Reports on 326 drivers between 17 and 30 October. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg — mobile and static cameras caught a whopping 3,138 more flouting speed limits.
Massive Police Operation Targets Speeding Hotspots
The National Police Chiefs’ Council led the charge, deploying the Road Safety Unit alongside other roads policing officers and Special Constabulary volunteers. Their mission? Hunting down speeders in notorious danger zones across Kent.
More Road Safety Blows Incoming This November
The blitz isn’t over yet! Kent Police are gearing up for two new campaigns: Brake Road Safety Week starting 14 November, followed by Operation Drive Insured on 21 November. Both aim to crack down on dangerous driving habits and uninsured motorists.
Chief Inspector Issues Stark Warning to Drivers
“Promoting road safety and preventing collisions is a year-round priority for Kent Police,” said Chief Inspector Craig West, Head of Roads Policing. “Far too many people risk lives daily by speeding, ignoring seatbelts, texting behind the wheel, or driving under the influence. We will not hesitate to take action.”
“We regularly target uninsured drivers too, often seizing their vehicles because these lawbreakers are a collision waiting to happen,” he added. “My message is simple: stick to the rules of the road and keep everyone safe.”
