Teen Shot Dead in Ladywood, Birmingham

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a 16-year-old boy died from gunshot wounds in Birmingham.

Tragic Shooting Rocks Local Community

The teenager was found seriously injured at a home on Lighthorne Avenue, Ladywood, just after 12:30pm on Sunday, 5 November. He passed away in hospital the following day.

Police confirmed a 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday and remains in custody for questioning.

Scenes remain sealed off on Lighthorne Avenue and St Vincent Street as detectives probe what happened and why.

Chief Inspector Sara Beech said: “This is the tragic death of a young man who should have had his life ahead of him. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends at what is an incredibly painful time.”

“We understand this dreadful news will naturally cause concern and upset within the community, but we need people to remain calm so we can fully investigate, get answers and convict whoever was responsible.”

“We have increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance and our officers will be available for anyone who has information.”

Police urge anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice for the victim.
