Man Pushed on Footbridge in Early Morning Assault

A man in his 40s was shoved from behind on a footbridge at Whatman Park around 7am on Thursday, 20 October 2022. The force of the push caused him to hit his head on a railing, resulting in a cut that required hospital treatment.

Unprovoked Attack Sparks Police Hunt

Police Sergeant Callum Tuckett described the incident as an “unprovoked assault.” Despite the victim not seeing his attacker, officers believe several witnesses nearby could help with their enquiries.

“This was an unprovoked assault and we have been completing enquiries to identify those responsible,” said Sgt Tuckett. “While the victim did not see his assailant, it is understood there were several people in the area at the time who may be able to assist our enquiries.”
