Man Attacked After MMA Fight at Swindon MECA
A shocking assault marred a night out at the MECA in Regent Circus on Saturday, March 5. Just before 11pm, following a Mixed Martial Arts event, a man in his 20s from Hampshire was viciously attacked.
Victim Suffers Serious Injuries
The victim sustained a fractured jaw and serious wounds to his head and eye socket. He was rushed to hospital for treatment after the brutal incident.
Suspect Arrested but Released Under Investigation
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent (Section 18 GBH). He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Detective Constable Helen Bott, from Swindon CID, said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim with several injuries. Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and we have arrested one individual. However, we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, including anyone who may have mobile phone footage of an altercation inside the arena towards the end of the event at around 10.50pm.”
