Police Hunting Two Key Witnesses in Gary Stacey Murder Probe
Detectives are urgently calling for help as they hunt two people who might hold crucial clues in the death of Gary Stacey, 49. He was brutally attacked at 4am on Sunday, February 14, in St James’ Street, Newport, and sadly died the following day.
Woman Seen Speaking to Victim at Pub
A 20-year-old man from Newport was quizzed on suspicion of murder and remains on police bail until June 1. Meanwhile, officers want to speak to a woman last spotted at Yates, Newport, on the night of Saturday, February 13.
She was seen chatting with Gary in the smoking area at the back of the pub. Described as a white woman in her early 20s, she is quite tall with dark, wavy hair and heavy eye and lip makeup. She wore a black jumpsuit with straps, heels, and possibly a belt. Notably, she had tattoos and is believed to have ties to local tattoo artists.
Man Spotted Near Scene Hours Before Attack
Police are also keen to identify a man seen walking past the Next store in St James’ Street at around 3.47am on Sunday, February 14. He was also caught on CCTV near Mings Garden Restaurant two minutes later.
A CCTV image of the man has been released by officers, who believe he could hold vital information.
