Coventry cops smashed their second drug farm in one day during a fierce crackdown on organised crime.
Policed Storm Through Gulson Road Den
On Wednesday, January 25, officers burst through the door of a property on Gulson Road. Two men, thought to be Albanian nationals, were caught red-handed. Police seized an eye-watering £230,000 worth of drugs and arrested the duo, who were referred to 123.
Deadly Fire Risk Exposed
Both raided properties had their electricity cut, creating a ticking fire bomb in the heart of the community. A top officer warned the setup was “lethal.”
“We were there to ensure the electrics are safe,” said a National Grid spokesman. “Unsafe connections caused by bypassed metres or overloaded sockets pose a fire hazard.”
They added, “We strongly advise the public not to tamper with our equipment because the voltages we deal with are lethal. Our engineers are trained to handle these risks safely.”
Police Cracking Down on Organised Drug Gangs
Inspector Alex Heeley revealed the raids came during Neighbourhood Policing Week as police target dangerous drug operations across Coventry.
“Cannabis farms and illegal use of properties fuel crime and pose serious risks,” he said. “Electricity bypasses have caused fires, endangering innocent lives. Vulnerable people are often exploited, and we will keep going after those behind this.”
Cannabis Farms Fuel Turf Wars
This year alone, cops have uncovered over 20 cannabis farms in the city. Nearly half were found after burglaries where gangs steal rival groups’ crops, fanning a turf war that threatens communities.
