Responding to desperate calls from motorists, the National Air Support helicopter tracked the rogue vehicle from above as drivers on the motorway bravely blocked lanes with hazards to warn others.

Dramatic End After Police Ram and T-Bone Tactics

The pursuit ended near Pinks Hill off the A27 when an unmarked police Volvo rammed the Micra multiple times, finally T-boning it onto the hard shoulder grass. The driver bailed out but was quickly caught thanks to a police search dog.

A witness said:

“I was driving down the M27 with my partner when the car jumped from the hard shoulder, sparks flying from a damaged wheel, swerving wildly. We put hazards on and blocked all three lanes to stop anything worse happening. The police told us later that it was the car they were chasing.”

Police praised the witnesses for helping keep other road users safe and credited their quick thinking with the successful arrest.

Road Reopened After Brief Closure

The motorway was temporarily shut to clear the wreck and allow investigation. The driver has been arrested and is now in custody facing multiple charges.

Officials continue to remind drivers of the dangers of ignoring police and driving against traffic—an absolute recipe for disaster on busy motorways.
