Crackdown launched as antisocial behaviour spikes in Broxtowe
Operation Potassium Plus steps up patrols
Nottinghamshire Police and Broxtowe Borough Council have launched a fresh crackdown following a rise in antisocial behaviour reports. High-visibility patrols are hitting hotspot areas hard, targeting offenders and reassuring local communities.
This move builds on the success of Operation Potassium, which was rolled out last October. Since August, antisocial behaviour in the focal areas dropped by nearly a third (31%), showing early signs of the operation’s impact.
Youth intervention at the heart of new strategy
The battle has now stepped up a gear with the rollout of Operation Potassium Plus. This pilot programme actively engages young people, offering a range of activities to keep them off the streets and away from trouble. The Chayah Development Project is also lending a hand alongside the police, focusing on positive youth development.
Police vow zero tolerance on troublemakers
Inspector Mike Ebbins, Broxtowe District Commander, said: “We’ve seen a spike in antisocial behaviour and listened closely to community concerns. Despite our earlier success, we’re not resting. We’re ramping up patrols and cracking down hard on anyone causing trouble.”
He added: “Officers will also patrol trams to keep everyone safe. Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.”
