Seventh Arrest in London Terror Probe Linked to Kurdish Group
The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command has arrested a seventh suspect in a sweeping investigation tied to the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The 31-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon in west London under the Terrorism Act 2000 and remains held at a London police station.
Earlier Raids Net Six More Suspects
This latest arrest comes after six others were detained earlier the same day. Those arrested include:
- A 59-year-old woman
- A 27-year-old man
- A 31-year-old woman
- A 62-year-old man
- A 56-year-old man
- A 23-year-old man
All suspects are being held under identical terrorism legislation as the investigation continues.
Met Police Address Community Concerns
“I want to stress that today’s arrests are targeted specifically at those we believe may be involved in suspected terrorist activity,” said Acting Commander Helen Flanagan. “We understand these arrests have caused concern, especially in the Kurdish community. Our priority is keeping everyone safe—including members of that community.”
Searches, Protests, and Police Response
Police searches are ongoing at the Kurdish Community Centre in Haringey, North London, which remains closed to the public. A peaceful protest nearby resulted in four arrests, unrelated to the terror probe.
Additional officers have been deployed to manage protests and provide reassurance to local residents. Commander Flanagan urged the public to avoid spreading unverified rumours.
