Tragic Crash on A6068: Elderly Driver Harry Boothby Dies
Harry Boothby, 74, from Padiham, has died following a collision on the A6068. The tragic smash occurred at around 7.40pm on Saturday, October 29.
Serious Injuries After Mercedes-VW Crash
Mr Boothby was driving a Volkswagen Passat when it collided with a Mercedes Vito van between Junction 8 of the M65 and Blackburn Road. The Mercedes driver suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, but thankfully, they are not life-threatening.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Sgt Michael Higginson from Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations said: “These are tragic circumstances, and our thoughts and prayers are very much with Mr Boothby’s family at this difficult time.”
He added: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses, in particular anyone with dashcam footage, which could assist our enquiries. If you can help, please come forward.”
Family Pays Emotional Tribute
In a heartfelt statement, Mr Boothby’s family said:
“We would like to thank the witnesses who stopped to help our dad and the emergency services that attended to him on Saturday. We also appreciate the police liaison officer who has supported us through this difficult time. Thank you for all the support from our friends and extended families. We are devastated as a family, and he will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.”
