Motorbike Tragedy: Richard Adde Killed in Horror Smash on A27
Richard Adde, 50, died instantly after his black Aprilia motorcycle collided with a silver Vauxhall Vectra near Whiteways Roundabout at 2.57pm on 14 October.
Crash Details
The Aprilia and Vauxhall were both heading northeast on the A27 when the collision happened. The impact sent Richard crashing into a dark Ford Transit parked in a layby on the opposite carriageway.
Tributes Flood In for Local Hero
Richard, a beloved service engineer from portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, worked for a local firm for three decades. His family said:
“Richard was a local lad who attended Broomfield School and lived his whole life around Portsmouth. Always smiling and cracking jokes, he left behind laughter wherever he went. Motorbiking was his passion. He was a loyal, larger-than-life character who’ll be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.”
Vauxhall Driver Arrested
The 30-year-old driver from Storrington escaped injury but was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Sussex Police are calling for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of either vehicle before the crash to come forward. Contact collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Redman.
