Emergency Services Called To M1 Great North Way After Person Falls From Bridge

Emergency services have been called to the M1  motorway following reports that a man has fallen from a motorway bridge. 

 

Police Paramedics the LFB and an air ambulance have all bee scrambled to the scene of the incident that happened just after 2.30pm on Monday afternoon.

 

Both North and Southbound carriage ways  have  been closed to traffic whilst emergency services deal with the incident and delays are expected in and around the area

Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route 

A spokesman for Highways England said: 

All emergency services including an Air Ambulance are in attendance. Highways England Traffic Officers are also providing assistance with traffic management on scene.

Southbound diverted traffic should follow the hollow circle diversion symbol.

Exit the M1 southbound at J4 and join the A41 Watford Bypass. At the first roundabout take the first exit to continue on the A41 Edgeware Way. At Apex Corner roundabout, take the second exit to join the A1 Watford Way. At the Mill Hill Circus roundabout take the second exit to continue on the A1 Edgeware Bypass/Watford Way. At the Fiveways Corner interchange take the second exit to join the A41 Watford Way southbound directional towards Central London. Continue on the A41 southbound through Colindeep and Hendon Central interchanges. At the Brent Cross interchange, exit the A41 and take the third exit to join the A406 (W) North Circular anti-clockwise. Take the next exit on the A406 (W) to access Staples Corner interchange which is J1 on the M1.

Northbound diverted traffic should follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol. This is via the reverse of the above route.
