Met Police in Standoff with Daredevil Crane Climber at Nine Elms
Early this Tuesday morning, just before 4am, a man scaled a towering crane near Battersea Power Station and the Sky Pool, high above Vauxhall Bridge. The crane, part of the £1billion One Nine Elms development set to deliver a 200-metre luxury skyscraper, became the stage for a high-risk protest.
Protester Refuses to Come Down, Plans Days-Long Vigil
Officers have tried repeatedly to speak to the man but so far, he’s ignored all attempts at contact. Eyewitnesses say he intends to stay put for several days, creating a dramatic scene overlooking the traffic-choked roads below.
Death-Defying Stunt in Support of Palestine
A pro-Palestinian activist revealed the climber is 69 years old, describing the act as a “death-defying, daredevil act of solidarity for Palestine” with “no safety net.” The Met confirmed their priority is the man’s safety, with officers maintaining a cautious presence on the ground.

Massive Disruption as Roads Shut Around Crane
The London Fire Brigade has been alerted, and police have cordoned off roads around Nine Elms Lane. Motorists are warned to expect major delays and seek alternative routes while the stand-off continues.
