Armed officers from Kent Police threw a quiet Kent village into lockdown on Friday afternoon. The dramatic police response was sparked by a welfare concern involving weapons.
Four Armed Units and Helicopter Swarm Scene
Police dispatched four armed response teams, a dog unit, and three response vehicles to White Horse Lane in Otham, just outside maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone. A Redhill-based police helicopter also joined the operation shortly after 2pm, circling overhead as officers surrounded a property.
Residents Told to Stay Indoors During Police Operation
Families living on White Horse Lane and nearby Three Tee were instructed to remain indoors and away from windows as the tense drama unfolded. One local, who asked to remain anonymous, was caught up in the lockdown and unable to return home after dropping children off at school due to police road closures.
