Flaming Car Sparks Traffic Nightmare
Police and Highways England slammed the brakes on the M20 this afternoon after a car suddenly burst into flames. The fiery blast happened just before junction 10 on the London-bound side, right by Ashford.
Massive Tailbacks Back to Hythe
Traffic has ground to a halt, with queues stretching from junction 11 of the A20 near Hythe and Westenhanger all the way back to Ashford’s junction 10 on Hythe Road south. Drivers on the coast-bound carriageway have been sliding over, gawking at the smouldering wreck.
Driver Escapes as Blaze Erupts
Luckily, the driver managed to pull onto the hard shoulder just in time before the fire took hold. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to tackle the intense blaze.
Return to Normal Expected by 5pm
Highways England said they expect traffic to clear and return to normal by 5pm. For now, drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays.
