Carnage on Bluewater Parkway After Driver Crashes into Central Barrier
A major exit from Bluewater Shopping Complex near Dartford, Kent, was shut down in the early hours of Sunday after a driver lost control and smashed into the central barrier.
Silver Vauxhall Vectra Wrecked on Bend
Witnesses say the silver Vauxhall Vectra was speeding around a bend when the driver lost control and ploughed straight into roadside barriers, causing thousands of pounds in damage. The car was left mangled and stuck in the safety barrier, forcing a specialist Hi-ab crane to be called in for removal.
20 Emergency Vehicles, Air Ambulance Rush to Scene
A witness described a chaotic scene with around 20 emergency vehicles lined up on the elevated section of Bluewater Parkway just before midnight on Saturday.
Kent Air Ambulance and the South East Coast HART team were dispatched to the crash. The extent of the driver’s injuries remains unclear, but the situation is serious.
Claims of Fatality Unconfirmed
Social media buzzed with rumours that someone had died in the crash, but Kent Police have yet to confirm any fatalities.
“Police were called to Bluewater at 11.14pm on Saturday, 28 December following a report of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle. South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended,” Kent Police said.
The driver was rushed to a local hospital with serious but stable injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
