Cop Hands Out Speeding Fines to Six-Year-Olds at Hot Wheels Birthday Bash!
Traffic Sergeant Geoff Longstaff isn’t your average officer. Instead of chasing criminals, he was handing out speeding tickets—to six-year-olds—at a Hot Wheels-themed party! The reason? A very special birthday for George, a brave six-year-old who has battled cancer for the past nine months.
Birthday Treat with a Twist
George’s family invited Sgt Longstaff to make the party unforgettable and help George forget his tough treatments. The party, shared with best mate Josh and 30 school friends, was packed with races and go-kart chases on Kiddi Karts.
“The kids were thrilled,” said mum Vicki. “Then Sgt Longstaff arrived and started handing out speeding fines—their faces were priceless!”
A Personal Connection
Geoff first met George last year during cancer treatments at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Both from Reigate, it turned out Geoff and George’s dad went to the same school.
“George was just four when he was diagnosed. His story really struck a chord,” Geoff said. “I wanted to do whatever I could to help.”
Showing true dedication, Geoff took time off his own day to attend the party, even bringing a card signed by Surrey Police’s Deputy Chief Constable Gavin Stephens.
Heartwarming Gesture Lights Up the Day
“After beating cancer himself, Sgt Longstaff could have been anywhere on his day off,” Vicki said. “But he chose to spend the afternoon making the kids’ day. At one point, it looked like a Guinness World Record attempt to fit them all in the police car! Sgt Longstaff handled it with a smile, and every child left beaming.”
George’s family started George and the Giant Pledge to raise £1 million for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
