Blaze Tears Through La Delizia Bakery in Portsmouth
More than 30 firefighters battled a fierce blaze smashing through La Delizia Italian Bakery on London Road, Northend Portsmouth. The fire broke out around 8pm on Tuesday, sparking a rapid emergency response.
Flats Evacuated as Firefighters Charge In
Fire crews from Cosham, Southsea, and Portchester were on the scene in under four minutes. Six fire engines and 30 firefighters worked swiftly to evacuate residents from the flats above the bakery, donning breathing apparatus to brave the smoke-filled building.
Thick Toxic Smoke and Road Closures
Firefighters faced a severe blaze in the three-storey building with a shop below and flats above. Thick grey smoke billowed out, forcing road closures in both directions along London Road. Crews used hose reels and fans to fight the fire and clear smoke, preventing a dangerous flashover.
