Emergency Scramble Over Suspected Acid Attack in East London
Police, paramedics, and fire crews rushed to Gosset Street, Bethnal Green, after reports of a shocking attack on Friday, December 2nd. Emergency services landed at Mulberry Academy Shoreditch just after 1pm following claims of an ‘acid attack’.
Witnesses Report Corrosive Substance Thrown
Eyewitnesses say a corrosive liquid was hurled at a person after an altercation. A specialist Detection, Identification and Monitoring unit from the London Fire Brigade joined the response, alongside the London Ambulance Service’s elite “Hart” team and Met Police officers.
Official Statement: No Injuries, No Acid Confirmed
The Met Police clarified the situation: “Police were called shortly before 12:50pm on Friday, 02 December to Gosset Street, E2 following reports of a woman throwing liquid at people. A third party reported a liquid had been thrown at a 17-year-old girl.”
“No injuries were reported and the girl did not require medical attention. The liquid is not believed to be a corrosive substance. Officers attended the location along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. Enquiries continue and police are conducting reassurance patrols in the area.”
