Blaze Erupts at Islington Dry Cleaners – Firefighter Hurt!

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters rushed to a dry cleaners on Essex Road, Islington, after a fire broke out early this morning.

Firefighter Injured in Early Hours Fight

Part of the ground floor was damaged as smoke billowed from the shop. A brave firefighter needed urgent medical attention and was taken by ambulance to hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

Bus Driver Spots Fire, Raises Alarm

A passing bus driver first spotted smoke seeping from the shop’s roller shutter and called the fire brigade at 1:49am. Fire crews from Islington, Shoreditch, Stoke Newington, and Holloway stations swiftly arrived.

Fire Under Control Within Two Hours

By 3:12am, the blaze was under control. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
