Heroic Rescue Saves 1,500 Cattle From Raging Barn Fire

Firefighters from 14 stations teamed up with a brave farmer to rescue around 1,500 beef cattle from a devastating barn blaze at Elmtree Farm in Sellindge, near Ashford, on Thursday night.

Farmer Battled Flames to Save Bullocks

The fire tore through two barns housing the cattle, sparking chaos as the farmer raced against time to free the trapped bullocks. Eyewitnesses say he led the animals to safety in a nearby field as flames engulfed the buildings.

Six fire crews clashed with the inferno, fighting the intense blaze that lit up the village with an eerie orange glow.

Swift Action Prevented Major Animal Loss

The cattle were quickly moved away from the danger zone by tractor and trailer, a move that undoubtedly saved hundreds of lives. Despite the destruction, no cattle were reported harmed in the fire.

Not all was spared, however—a tractor was lost to the flames. Firefighters chose to let the fire burn out naturally, avoiding the use of water to tackle the blaze.

Road Closures and Ongoing Investigation

The A20 was partially closed between Swan Lane and Bull Lane as emergency crews battled the fire. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, with the farmer and firefighters hailed as heroes for their tireless efforts.
