Drama at 30,000 Feet: United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Return with Injuries

A United Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was forced into a terrifying emergency landing in Lagos after suffering a sudden technical failure. Flight UA613, carrying 245 passengers and 11 crew from Lagos to Washington Dulles, plunged sharply after losing cabin pressure, leaving six people seriously hurt.

Passengers Feel the Jolt as Plane Plummets

Chilling eyewitness accounts reveal chaos on board. One passenger said: “We had just been served meals when the plane lost pressure and dropped sharply. I hit my head on the ceiling during the impact. The plane went into a sharp descent three times, and several people got injured.”

Overall, four passengers and two crew members sustained serious injuries. Another 27 passengers and five crew suffered minor wounds in the freak incident.

Swift Emergency Response at Lagos Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the Dreamliner safely landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport where emergency crews sprang into action immediately.

“All 245 passengers and 11 crew disembarked safely. Our rescue team ensured the injured received prompt medical attention,” FAAN said.

Those badly hurt were rushed to hospital, while others were given care and support on site.

Investigation Underway as United Airlines Watches Closely

Authorities are digging into the technical fault behind the sudden pressure loss and rapid descent. United Airlines is working with Nigerian officials to get to the bottom of what went wrong and help those affected.

The incident has sparked fresh safety concerns over long-haul flights. Officials, however, stressed that the quick response from emergency teams prevented a far worse disaster.
