Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express have joined forces to issue a clear alert: delay your travel until Friday or seek alternative transport. The few trains still running face ongoing delays due to recovery work.

Ticket holders can use their tickets on these alternative routes:

  • TransPennine Express via any reasonable route
  • LNER between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross
  • CrossCountry between Edinburgh and Birmingham New Street
  • ScotRail via any reasonable route

TransPennine Express Customers: Avoid Travel North of Preston

If you’re travelling north of Preston, do not travel. Instead, your ticket is valid on these alternative services:

  • Northern between Preston and Liverpool Lime Street/Manchester Airport
  • CrossCountry between Edinburgh and York
  • LNER between Edinburgh and York
  • ScotRail between Glasgow and Edinburgh until midday Thursday
  • TransPennine Express services between Edinburgh and Newcastle and Newcastle to Manchester in both directions
