Seven held in London terror probe linked to banned PKK group

The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command has arrested seven people across London on suspicion of connections to the proscribed terrorist group PKK. The swoop happened on 27 November, and all suspects remain in custody under extended detention warrants until Monday, 9 December.

All were detained under Section 41(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Searches and Seizures Complete
Police have finished searching eight London properties linked to the investigation. All homes have now been handed back to their owners. Acting Commander Helen Flanagan said:
“Our officers continue to work round the clock to gather and review evidence as part of this investigation into very serious allegations.”
“These arrests target specific individuals suspected of links to terrorist activity. We want to reassure the public that all our efforts are to keep everyone safe.”
Financial Clampdown Underway
In a move to cut off funding, officers have obtained Account Freezing Orders on two bank accounts believed to be channeling money in support of the PKK’s terrorist activities. Relevant parties have been notified.
Community Feeling the Strain
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, overseeing policing in Haringey, acknowledged the investigation’s impact on the local Kurdish community, especially after a Community Centre was temporarily closed during searches. The centre is now back in use.
“We hold regular meetings with the Kurdish community to keep them updated and address concerns during this difficult period. We thank everyone for their ongoing support and understanding.”
Police have boosted patrols and continue to engage community leaders and residents to reassure and tackle worries.
