Armed Police Lock Down East Cowes Ferry Terminal Over Car Search

East Cowes’ Red Funnel ferry terminal was thrown into lockdown tonight as armed officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police detained four people. The ferry’s top ramp was held up, stopping vehicles from disembarking while police launched their operation.

Blue Ford Titania Stopped and Searched

Officers stopped an Isle of Wight-registered blue Ford Titania with an ’18’ plate, carrying several passengers. Eyewitnesses say police gave the vehicle a thorough “shakedown” before detaining those on board.

Heavy Police Presence & Drug Search Underway

A large police contingent remains on site, including armed units, four police vans, a dog unit, and armed roads policing. A drugs search is ongoing on the vehicle and a number of passengers, believed to be part of a planned operation. One man, after being released, cheekily asked if police could call his mum for a pickup.

Ferry Traffic Unaffected

Authorities assured the public that the incident is not disrupting other ferry travellers or terminal traffic. More updates are expected as the investigation continues.
