The Armed Forces Covenant was officially sealed by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) to guarantee fair treatment for veterans and serving personnel in everyday life.
KFRS Pledges Loyalty to Armed Forces
On May 11, 2023, Chief Executive Ann Millington signed the covenant in a ceremony attended by military figures and KFRS staff, including veterans. Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Castro of the Royal Engineers co-signed alongside Major Ben McGauley and Regimental Sergeant Major Andrew Hurren.
Backing Those Who’ve Served
Millington proudly highlighted KFRS’s strong bond with Kent and Medway’s armed forces communities. She praised the covenant’s role in acknowledging the sacrifices and contributions of service members and their families.
“Ex-military personnel bring invaluable skills, knowledge and expertise to our service,” Millington said.
Support on the Front Line and at Home
KFRS staff are trained to identify military characteristics during home visits and can refer veterans to suitable charities for support. The new covenant strengthens the fire service’s promise to offer tailored services and care to veterans and their families.
