Massive Blaze Rips Through Rainham Industrial Estate

A huge fire has erupted at an industrial estate in Rainham, with 20 fire engines and around 125 firefighters battling the inferno since 1pm today, June 20.

Emergency Teams Flood the Scene

The fire broke out at a warehouse on Ferry Lane containing several industrial units. A 25-metre safety cordon is now in place, shutting down the area while crews fight the flames.

Firefighters from Barking, East Ham, Wennington, and Dagenham are on site, with additional support from Kent and Essex fire services. London’s 999 Control is fielding numerous calls about the thick, black smoke visible for miles — even across the Thames in Erith.

Official Warnings: Avoid Ferry Lane, Keep Indoors

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson urged locals to avoid Ferry Lane and advised residents to keep windows and doors tightly shut due to the heavy smoke:

“Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters are tackling a fire at an industrial estate on Ferry Lane in Rainham. A 25-metre cordon is in place as a precaution. People are advised to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area if possible.”

They also stressed the importance of reporting any suspected fires immediately, despite the many calls linked to this blaze.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown as Crews Battle On

The origin of the fire remains a mystery. Emergency services are working around the clock to control the blaze and protect neighbouring homes and businesses.

Residents and local firms are urged to stay clear of the scene and follow official safety advice to avoid smoke inhalation.
