Fatal Incident Shuts Down Northern Line
A person has died after being struck by a train on the Northern line at Old Street Underground station just before 11:20am today. The shocking incident sparked a major emergency response.
Emergency Crews Race to Scene
London Ambulance Service quickly dispatched paramedics, arriving in under four minutes. Teams from the hazardous area response unit and London’s Air Ambulance trauma team also attended.
“Very sadly, despite our best efforts, a person was pronounced dead at the scene,” said a London Ambulance Service spokesperson.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances
British Transport Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. They will prepare a file for the coroner.
Northern Line Disruption Expected Until Early Afternoon
The Northern line remains closed between Moorgate and Finsbury Park. Disruption is expected until at least 12:45pm while investigations continue.
