Richard Tice Slams Ofcom Over GB News Impartiality Ruling
Richard Tice, Reform UK leader and GB News presenter, has slammed Ofcom’s recent ruling against the channel for breaching impartiality rules. He called the regulator’s decision “a laughingstock” on social media platform X.
Ofcom Hits GB News Over Political Bias
Ofcom flagged five GB News episodes featuring Conservative MPs for breaking impartiality regulations. This includes two shows hosted by former Commons leader Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and three co-hosted by ex-pensions secretary Esther McVey alongside her MP husband Philip Davies.
The regulator stressed that news must be “presented with due impartiality.” It warned that politicians acting as newsreaders, interviewers, or reporters need a strong editorial justification to avoid bias.
Tice Fires Back, Stoking Media-Politics Debate
Tice’s fiery rebuke adds fresh fuel to the heated debate over politicians fronting news shows. Critics argue that mixing political affiliations with journalism risks damaging news credibility and impartiality.
With opinion-led outlets like GB News gaining traction, the clash between political influence and journalistic standards is sharper than ever.
