Blaze Breaks Out Under Wapping Railway Arches
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters rushed to tackle a blaze at a business operating beneath the railway arches on Cable Street, Wapping.
Firefighters Battle Flames at Cable Street Business
Station Commander Mark Jordan, on the scene, confirmed: “The fire has broken out in a business under the railway arches. There are no road closures, but traffic is heavy. We advise people to avoid the area if possible.”
DLR Services Disrupted as Firefighters Fight Flames
The London Fire Brigade received the call at 4.15pm. Crews from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Shadwell, Dockhead, Millwall, and Poplar fire stations are working hard to bring the blaze under control.
DLR trains are running at reduced speeds, causing possible delays for commuters.
Damage to Railway Arch Storage Unit, No Injuries
A storage unit used for rickshaws under the arches was damaged in the fire. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Update: The fire is now under control, but heavy traffic remains as crews continue operations on site.
