BBC Extends Deadline in DJ Abuse Probe

Review Officer Opens Door Wider for Witnesses

Gemma White KC, appointed by the BBC in August to lead an urgent internal review into allegations against a prominent DJ, has extended the call for evidence. Originally set to close earlier, the deadline is now extended until Friday, 2 December.

New Safeguarding Expert Joins the Team

The BBC has brought in Jahnine Davis, an independent safeguarding specialist, to assist Gemma White with the ongoing review. Davis is renowned for her expertise and will support in handling sensitive conversations and meetings.

White Speaks Out: “We Want to Hear From Everyone”

“It’s been just over a month since the BBC published my call for evidence,” Gemma White said. “I want to thank everyone who has come forward with information.”

“I understand speaking about sensitive matters can be painful, and many have had to consider their decision carefully. Some have wondered if their information is important enough – my answer is simple: yes.”

“I want to hear from everyone who has something to say. I’m pleased the BBC has appointed an independent safeguarding expert, Jahnine Davis, who can join conversations or meetings if you prefer.”

“If you have concerns about providing information, or questions, please reach out. I want to make this process as comfortable as possible.”
