Queen Consort Camilla Surrounded by 1,000 Teddy Bears Donated to Charity
The Queen Consort has been spotted grinning from ear to ear in a heartwarming new snap, surrounded by more than 1,000 teddy bears donated to Barnardo’s children’s charity. The fluffy tributes, including beloved Paddington bears, were left by the public outside Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle following the late Queen’s death last month.
Teddy Bear Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
After the royal’s passing in September, mourners flocked to royal residences to leave floral tributes—and teddy bears inspired by the Queen’s famous Paddington bear tea cameo during her Platinum Jubilee. Some even left marmalade sandwiches, a nod to the iconic sketch where the Queen pulled out the tasty treat from her handbag.
The hundreds of bears have now been carefully collected and professionally cleaned. Buckingham Palace confirmed they will be delivered to Barnardo’s children’s services in the coming weeks to bring comfort to vulnerable youngsters.
Camilla’s Commemorative Paddington Moment
The touching photo was taken at Clarence House, where Camilla sat smiling in a navy dress with white stitching, clutching a Paddington bear on her lap. The picture marked the 64th anniversary of the first Paddington bear book, celebrated on Thursday.
Camilla has been a patron of Barnardo’s since 2016, stepping into a role once held by the late Queen Elizabeth II for over 30 years. Speaking on the donation Alison Perry, Barnardo’s chief executive, said:
“We are honoured to give homes to the teddies left in Her Majesty’s memory. The Queen Consort’s support helps us raise awareness for vulnerable children and young people in the UK.”
Teddy Bears to Bring Joy Across the UK
Tom Jarvis, director of parks at Royal Parks charity, explained the effort behind collecting the bears left in Green Park and Hyde Park. Almost 200 volunteers and shire horses helped gather the tributes.
“We’re overjoyed these teddy bears will now bring joy and comfort to hundreds of Barnardo’s children,” Jarvis said.
Bears are being looked after at Clarence House, Buckingham Palace, and the Royal Parks nursery in Hyde Park while they await their new homes.
This unique royal tribute turns public grief into a beacon of hope for children in need, carrying forward Her Majesty’s legacy with every cuddly bear delivered.
