Eastbourne RNLI Rushed Out Twice in One Day
Eastbourne’s RNLI Volunteer Crew was called into action twice on Thursday, 3rd November.
False Alarm Near Eastbourne Pier
At midday, the crew launched the All Weather Lifeboat after reports of a vessel in trouble west of Eastbourne Pier. On arrival, it turned out to be a false alarm. A local fishing boat was perfectly safe, hauling in nets close to shore.
Late Night Emergency Near Belle Tout
Just before midnight at 11.30pm, the volunteers were paged again. This time, they launched the Inshore Lifeboat to assist Local Coastguards and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter with a serious incident east of Belle Tout Lighthouse.
No further details were released due to the sensitive nature of the emergency.
