Dramatic RNLI Rescue Underway Off Dover

The RNLI Dover lifeboat launched at just after 5.30am on Thursday following urgent reports of a grey dinghy in trouble near the Varne Lightvessel.

23 People Stranded in Rough Seas

Multiple 999 calls flooded in, alerting the UK Coastguard to a man aboard the 6-foot grey rigid inflatable boat (RIB) who needed immediate medical attention. The lifeboat crew found 23 others stranded on the tiny craft, battling huge swells and rough sea conditions.

Helicopter Called In for Medical Evacuation

Rescue 163, a helicopter based in Lydd, has joined the mission. Officials say the sick man is unconscious and fitting, prompting plans for a winch evacuation to fly him to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

The RNLI, UK Coastguard, and Home Office have been contacted for updates.
