YouTuber Jack Doherty Crashes $300K McLaren Live on Stream, Leaves Friend Bleeding
Jack Doherty, the 20-year-old viral prankster and content creator, has crashed his $300,000 McLaren 570S while live streaming — sparking outrage online. The horrifying accident left his friend Michael David covered in blood, turning Doherty’s high-speed joyride into a nightmare.
High-Speed Horror on Live Stream
The Long Island-born, LA-based influencer was driving recklessly in torrential rain on a Miami highway. Footage from the Kick livestream shows Doherty glancing down at his phone, steering one-handed, before losing control. The McLaren skidded, slammed into a metal barrier, tearing off the bonnet and wrecking the car’s front end.
While Doherty escaped without injury, Michael was left bleeding badly and rushed to hospital. Shockingly, moments after the crash, Doherty handed Michael the camera saying, “Michael, here. Film on that phone too.” Over 185,000 viewers were watching live when the smash happened.
Backlash from Fans and Influencers
Many slammed Doherty for prioritising content over his injured friend. Social media star Corinna Kopf tweeted, “Your friend’s face is gushing blood but you make sure he stays filming from all angles… nice.”
After the crash, Doherty even passed the camera to a helper so filming could continue as he was helped from the wreck. Throughout, he obsessively commented on the damage to his McLaren while Michael clutched his wrist, aided by bystanders.
Kicked Off Streaming & Facing Legal Heat
Following the incident, Doherty was banned from Kick for ignoring safety rules—specifically reading live chat while driving. This isn’t his first brush with controversy: Doherty’s edgy prank videos and public provocations have been called rude and dangerous.
Earlier this year, Doherty and his security guard Justin Goslee (aka Kane Kongg) were sued after an altercation provoked by the YouTuber turned violent. Despite past incidents, Doherty still commands nearly 15 million YouTube subscribers, mostly teenage boys who gobble up his stunts and antics.
But his reckless behaviour is catching up with him. This crash comes just 10 months after Doherty flipped a golf cart with his girlfriend—another risky stunt he posted online. Critics warn Doherty’s dangerous content could cause real harm, urging him to rethink his approach before someone gets seriously hurt.
