Weekend Travel Alert: Major TfL Closures Hit London
Get ready, Londoners! This weekend promises travel chaos as Transport for London (TfL) shuts down key routes for urgent maintenance. Plan ahead or risk being stuck.
Friday, April 19 – Overground and Tram Troubles
- London Overground: From Monday to Thursday nights (April 15-18), no westbound trains from Stratford to Camden Road after 11:45 pm.
- Tram Service: Grounded between Wellesley Road/George Street and Beckenham Junction/Elmers End/New Addington from Good Friday (March 29) all the way through April 24.
- Waterloo & City Line: Operating only Monday to Friday, 6am to 12:30am. No trains on Saturdays, Sundays, or bank holidays.
Saturday, April 20 – More Tram Mayhem
- Tram Closure Continues: Still no service between Wellesley Road/George Street and Beckenham Junction/Elmers End/New Addington.
- Waterloo & City Line: Again, services run Monday to Friday only, 6am to 12:30am. No weekend trains.
Sunday, April 21 – DLR and Elizabeth Line Disruptions
- DLR: Modified service ends early at 4 pm. Tower Gateway to Lewisham starts early at 5:30 am; rest of the lines kick off at 7 am.
- Elizabeth Line: No trains between Paddington and Heathrow/Reading until 6:35 am.
- Tram Closure Persists: Ongoing from Wellesley Road/George Street to Beckenham Junction/Elmers End/New Addington.
- Waterloo & City Line: Services only Monday to Friday, 6am to 12:30am. No weekend or bank holiday trains.
