A section of the A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone has been closed following a serious car accident involving a young child. The road is currently shut between the Esso Tesco Express and the Cherry Tree pub as emergency services respond to the incident.


A spokesperson for the air ambulance service stated:
“Our crew arrived on scene at 12:30 PM, where they worked alongside paramedics and Kent Police to provide medical care to the patient involved in a road traffic collision. The patient was then transported to a major trauma centre by air.”

Kent Police were called to the scene shortly after 12:00 PM on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, following the collision between a car and a pedestrian. The child was treated at the scene before being flown to the hospital with injuries believed to be serious.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the road remains closed as their work continues. Motorists are advised to avoid the area as the closures are expected to remain in place for several hours.
