Emergency Services Launch Midnight Rescue at Limehouse Basin
Police, fire crews, and search teams sprang into action around midnight on Sunday, December 4th, after reports of a person jumping into the water at Limehouse Basin, East London.
Massive Multi-Agency Search Underway
The drama unfolded near Canning Town, where emergency services received a tip-off about someone in the canal. Within minutes, two fire engines, the London Fire Brigade’s specialist search and rescue unit (FRU) with a boat, and the rescue boat Fire One were at the scene.
Met Police officers and the RNLI joined the frantic search operation, combing the water and surrounding areas.
High-Tech Helicopter Assists Scare
To intensify the hunt, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) deployed a helicopter equipped with FLIR thermal imaging and a powerful night searchlight. It scanned the water from above, aiding rescuers on the ground in their desperate bid to find the missing person.
Fire crews and rescue teams worked tirelessly into the early hours, but the search is ongoing. Authorities say more updates will follow as the situation develops.
