Safety First as Evacuations and Road Closures Kick In

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Called In
Officers snapped photos of the shells and sent them to the army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). Experts confirmed the shells were potentially live.
Swift Response Ends with Safe Removal
The shells were found just before 3.45pm on Wednesday, 15 March 2023, prompting immediate road closures.
The EOD team safely removed the ordnance, allowing roads to reopen by 4.34pm the same day.
