Tragic Blaze in Bexleyheath Claims Four Lives
Police were called to a fire at a home on Hamilton Road, Bexleyheath at around 8:30pm on Thursday, 18 November. London Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service rushed to the scene along with officers.
Two Women and Two Children Die
Tragically, two adult women and two children—an infant boy and girl—were pronounced dead at the scene. Their devastated next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
A man suffered leg injuries and remains in hospital. His condition is not life-threatening. Another individual was also taken to hospital after arriving at the scene.
No Suspicious Circumstances, Investigation Continues
The fatalities are believed to be family members. Detectives say the fire’s cause is not currently treated as suspicious and no arrests have been made so far.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, who have suffered such an awful and devastating loss,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, head of policing for Bexley, Lewisham and Greenwich.
“We have officers at the scene and know that these sentiments are shared across Bexley and London. Our inquiries continue alongside the London Fire Brigade to understand the cause of this terrible incident.”
