26-Year-Old Arrested at Stansted Over Suspected Terror Plot
Armed cops from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command swooped at Stansted Airport today, Friday 3 December, arresting a 26-year-old UK man on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The suspect was nabbed before boarding an outbound flight.
Extreme Right-Wing Links Highlighted
Commander Richard Smith revealed the arrest is linked to suspected extreme right-wing terrorism. He reassured the public, saying, “There is not believed to be any imminent risk to the public.”
“Officers carry out proactive investigations and arrests day and night to keep people safe, and our Counter Terrorism Police are among the best in the world.”
He urged folks to stay vigilant. “Has someone you know started acting out of character? Suspect an extremist mindset? We have specially trained officers ready to help. Report your concerns to us without delay.”
Ongoing Investigation in Hastings
The arrest was made under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. The man remains in custody at a south London police station. Meanwhile, a search is underway at an address in the Hastings area linked to the probe.
