Chaos erupted in Thornton Heath, south London, this morning as a terraced house exploded and collapsed, triggering a massive emergency response. Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines stormed Galpin’s Road following multiple 999 calls. The blaze and blast left one young child trapped in the rubble – now rescued and rushed to a London hospital.
Firefighters Battle Inferno, Search Ongoing for Missing Residents
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed a huge deployment from nearby stations including Norbury, Mitcham, West Norwood, and Woodside. The cause of the fire and explosion remains a mystery as crews continue combing through debris for four unaccounted residents.
“At 7:08 a.m., the Brigade was called to a terraced house collapse caused by an explosion,” said an LFB spokesperson. “Our 999 Control Officers responded to 13 separate calls from the scene.”
