Massive Fire Tears Through Southampton Restaurant
A huge blaze erupted at a Southampton restaurant on Portswood Road yesterday evening, sparking a major emergency response.
Firefighters Fight Fierce Flames
The fire broke out around 7.30pm, quickly escalating and requiring over seventy officers and firefighters to tackle the inferno. Crews deployed two aerial ladders and two water carriers to battle the flames.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service sent 14 engines, including teams from St Mary’s, Hightown, Redbridge, Eastleigh, Hamble, and Winchester.
Road Closed as Fire Rages
Portswood Road has been shut to all traffic and pedestrians while the situation remains critical. Residents nearby have been urged to keep windows and doors shut to avoid inhaling thick smoke billowing from the scene.
The blaze is still ongoing, with emergency crews working hard to bring it under control.
