Tragic blaze claims life of 80-year-old woman in Walthamstow

Early morning fire in East London

An 80-year-old woman was tragically killed when her home in East London went up in flames. The fire broke out at around 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, on Higham Hill Road in Walthamstow. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the blaze was reported.

Massive response from fire brigade

Six fire engines and a turntable ladder from the London Fire Brigade battled the blaze near the junction with Mayfield Road.

Despite their efforts, the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
